About the event
In this Coronation year, St Mary's Preservation Trust presents the official record of the day Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on 2nd June 1953. Many of Britain's leading contemporary cinematic artists were commissioned to create this glorious film of the event. Narrated by Laurence Olivier, it conveys the sights & sounds, the pomp & pageantry, the very spirit of that iconic ceremony. Oscar-nominated, BAFTA winning, A Queen is Crowned is one of the greatest films of an historical event ever made. Directed by Castelton Knight, narration by Laurence Olivier. Running time approx 80 minutes. On our big screen in the nave of St Mary's, the Church's gothic beauty and wonderful acoustics will provide an amazing setting for the film show. A 'goody bag' of delicious light refreshments with a coronation theme and a glass of fizz available on arrival from the bar (one drink & selection of snacks included) Prize raffle in aid of our charity.
